Camp Canonicus Mission Project Open for Youth Volunteers
Camp Canonicus is all about community and connecting on a deep and spiritual level. The closure of our summer camping programming due to COVID-19 means we have missed having our campers and their families on-site. But a new project will allow us to come together as a community and connect in significant ways.
Camp Canonicus Mission Project will offer middle- and high-school youth the opportunity to spend a day volunteering at camp. The project will take place from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Thursdays from July 23-August 20.
Students will be able to earn community service hours by helping with service projects that will benefit the camping program. The projects will include clearing the ropes course of brush, cleaning the archery range, cleaning cabins, sorting craft supplies, and reorganizing camp program areas.
CCMP volunteers also will be able to take a break for a cool dip in the lake, hike to a favorite spot, and participate in a short devotion. Amanda Ogilvie, our camp director, will supervise the volunteers and ensure social distancing and other safety precautions. CCMP volunteers will be required to wear a face mask and bring their own lunches.
For more information and/or to sign up for one of the volunteer dates, contact Amanda at amanda@abcori.org.
