The Canonicus Family & Community
Canonicus is a
ministry of the American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island (ABCORI). ABCORI is a
Christian denomination with its roots in the religious freedom of Rhode Island.
Canonicus derives its name from Native American leader, Chief Sachem
Canonicus, whose story is intertwined with
a close relationship with Roger Williams and the founding of the
state of Rhode Island. A brief history of Chief Sachem Canonicus can be found here.
The property of Canonicus is a reality due to the generosity
of thousands whose lives have been touched by this special place since

Being part of the ABCORI family we
are connected to several other elements of the community. Some of those elements
exercise their ministry here, while others shine Christ's light further afield.
