How It Works

The derby is on the Saturday morning (after our "macho breakfast"), with special events on the Friday night, including a casting contest, burger bash and s'mores around the campfire.  Our "Fish Tales" contest will also be run again this year.  Do you have a story to tell?  Is it true?   Do fisherfolk really care?  (Prizes are awarded for the best adult and best child stories).

The derby is open to any child & adult team (a "child" being any person 14 years and under and an "adult" is any responsible adult 21 & older).   Fish can be caught from either lakeside or boat. We are blessed with a variety of fish, including bass, sunfish, perch and catfish. Prizes are awarded for each type of fish and in age categories. All prizes are awarded to the child member of the team (regardless of who catches the fish).

Accommodation is available in our retreat houses or your tent.  Want to use your own boat?  No problem (just make sure that it's got an electric motor).  Don't have a boat?  No problem, we have boats and canoes to lend on a timed basis.
