Our MissionThe Mission of Canonicus Camp and Conference Center is to extend and enhance the ministry of local congregations of the American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island to the community by providing opportunities and resources for spiritual and personal nurture and for creative recreation and education in the context of God's natural environment.
Our Operating StatementThe Canonicus camp ministry seeks to model, develop and encourage a personal relationship with Christ within a nurturing and healthful environment in the context of God's creation. This is accomplished by affirming our Baptist heritage through relational ministries which promote spiritual growth and social skills and programs that focus on creative recreation and Christian stewardship.

It has been said that a week of Christian camping is equivalent to an entire year of Sunday School. Consider that so much of Christians faith is taught by example, through compassion and friendship, in the context of relationship. Camp is designed to create relationships in which faith is expressed and shared.

How many people have the opportunity to join in worship and singing every day of the week? A Christian camp is a place with an intentional focus on experiencing the presence of God and deepening each camper's relationship with God.
|
Christian camping in an outdoor setting takes the experience of the natural world a step further. For campers it makes the connection between the creation and the Creator - a Creator who not only made the world, but also made each person and calls each one to a life of faithfulness and service honoring Christ.

An experience of living in Christian community - camp is designed for the formation of community. Within Christian Community faith is shared, challenges are faced, forgiveness is required and is offered.
