Celebrating more than 60 years, the Overnight camp program has been the heart of our summer camping ministry here at Canonicus
.
~~~
We've come a long way since campers slept in covered wagons.  For as long as Canonicus has been in existence, young people have come to experience the beauty and uplifting Christian faith experiences of camp at Canonicus.  Now we sleep in a mixture of sleeper tents and sturdy, modern shelters.  However, there is still the opportunity to find a special place in the woods for overnight, outdoor camping with the Advanced Outdoor Living Skills (AOLS) program.
Our Programs
Our programs have proven to be very popular with both campers and their parents throughout the years. For your convenience, we have also listed them according to grade and by program weeks.
Whether it's doing their first Eskimo roll in a kayak or camping under the stars for the first time, Canonicus has opened up new worlds to young people.  It is a safe, enriching place where young people can come to experience things for the first time or grow over the years.  Many a camper has returned to us summer after summer to re-experience the unique and nurturing Christian environment that is Canonicus.
What we offer:
Canonicus' Overnight program runs on a week-by-week basis for 8 weeks from June 22 to August 15, 2008.
Registration begins at 3 pm on Sunday and pickup is at 5 pm on Friday (with an interactive parent/camper closing circle at 4 pm!).
Between registration and the closing circle, campers are supervised 24 hours-a-day by highly-trained International and American staff.
All staff are committed Christians with a passion for working with young people.  All staff go through stringent background checks to ensure the safety of all campers on camp. Our program is varied with activities throughout the day and into the night (with a special all-camp activity every night).   Accommodation is in dormitory-style shelters or in 4- to 6-sleeper tents on raised platforms.  Bedding is either in bunks (shelters) or on spring-frame beds (tents).
