Welcome to New Opportunities
at ABCORI’s Canonicus Camp & Conference Center
American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island (ABCORI) invites you to explore the exciting new opportunities that are available on the grounds of its camp and conference center.
ABCORI Summer 2023 Opportunities
As we experiment with new opportunities and imagine possibilities for the future, we are excited to begin with these offerings:
ABCORI Service Camp: Joining Hands & Hearts
Friday evening, June 30–Sunday morning, July 2
This intergenerational event will allow participants of all ages to serve older adults through hand-on projects.
A Grand Adventure: All Creatures Great & Small
Monday evening, July 10–Friday morning, July 14
This special experience for grandparents and grandchildren will include daily treks to learn about creatures great and small. Group activities will focus on being caretakers, along with the God who created us all.
ABCORI Global Mission Camp
Friday evening, August 11–Sunday morning, August 13
This intergenerational family camp will gather folks of all ages to learn about the work of our American Baptist missionaries and how we can become partners in that work.
We are planning a sneak peak of this experience on Saturday, April 29. Drs. Rick and Anita Gutierrez, who serve in South Africa through American Baptist International Ministries, will lead in activities that will help participants learn more about their ministry.
Registration information for summer 2023 opportunities will be available in March.
Other Summer Opportunities
ABCORI-member congregations are invited to design and staff their own programs on the camp and conference center grounds this summer. Possibilities might include a day camp for children, a week of Vacation Bible School, an overnight weekend camp for youth, or a family camp. Another possibility might be for congregations to work together in sponsoring a program.
ABCORI staff can provide prices and guidelines to help congregations with their planning. ABCORI-member congregations will receive preference through March 15 in reserving space on the grounds from mid-June through mid-August. For information, please contact email@example.com.
Two virtual information sessions are scheduled for ABCORI-member congregations that are interested in scheduling a summer program. The sessions will take place via Zoom at:
